How do I return a Christmas gift to TJ Maxx?
Short answer: Take it to a TJ Maxx store with the gift receipt. Gift-receipt, late and no-receipt returns get merchandise credit, and no-receipt returns need a government photo ID, your name, address and signature.
Details
- Online purchases can be returned in a TJ Maxx store with the shipping confirmation or order barcode, but not at Marshalls or other TJX stores.
- Opened or tampered beauty items can’t be returned; used or worn items aren’t accepted.
- Some high-value items (e.g., over $1,000; handbags and footwear over $499.99) can’t be returned in store.

- In-store purchases Oct 4–Dec 24, 2026: returnable through Jan 25, 2027.
- Online purchases Oct 4–Dec 24, 2026: returnable through Feb 4, 2027.
